Josh Butchart: Theatrical Director and Designer

My love of theater stems from the support and guidance of a fantastic high school theater teacher. Her vision, spirit, energy, and kindness resonated with me, and because of her I have been working in the theater, predominantly high school theater, ever since.

I studied theater and education at Whitman College, in Walla Walla, WA. I did my student teaching in theater at Curtis High School in Tacoma, WA, where I did my first real design work. I was then hired by Beverly Hills High School (BHHS) as one of its two theater teachers. I have worked at BHHS for the past 7 years, directing, producing, and/or designing three shows a year.

I bring a multitude of skills to the theater department. I am a scenic designer and builder, a scenic and classical painter, a skilled photographer, and am proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Bridge, and Lightroom. I am a classically trained singer, actor and director, and I play the French Horn.
